TRAVELS 2009
June South Dakota, Crazy Horse, etc.
Friday, June 26, 2009
The day began with a prayer asking God to travel with us and
provide a safe travel for us all. The morning air was warm and
the sky was clear. A great day for traveling west.
Sharon & I left Murfreesboro, TN with the Northside Baptist Church
group at 5 AM.. Arrived in Nebraska City, NE around 7pm
where we spent the night.
Saturday, June 26, 2009
All left Nebraska City by 7 am. The group re-grouped
in Gordon, S.D.. all ate a small lunch and caravan onto
Manderson, S.D. All arrived by 4:30 pm and settled in
for a long week. Ladies and girls in one house the men
and boys to their house.
We unloaded, sorted and neatly stacked our supplies into
the garage at the men’s house. A central location.
Sharon and I traveled down the street to a house that
had a wheelchair ramp attached to the front porch where
we unloaded our supplies and settled in. Our house was
the only one of the three that had two bath rooms and
air-conditioning. Yea.
SUNDAY
All up by 6 am. Some ate breakfast some did not.
*NOTE: Only one bath per house. All walked to
a small church some 300 yards away. Services started
at 7:30. This small church places us in the days when
there was only the good ole country church. I could
really hear the sweet sound of one’s voice singing the
good ole gospel songs. There was only fourty-some
of us and yet we filled the church. Service was short.
We all received our blessings and went out into the
Sunday world.
